My story

**Meet Lola (aka Lulu) – The Sweetest Shy Soul** Lola, affectionately known as *Lulu*, is a gentle, timid girl who has been through a lot but is blooming beautifully in the shelter thanks to the love and patience of the Behavior team and kennel staff. She came to us through no fault of her own after her family was displaced, and while she was initially shut down, Lulu has shown us just how much love she has to give. Lulu may be shy at first and cautious with new people, but if you approach her calmly (bonus points for baby talk), she’ll begin to open up. Once she finds her person, she bonds deeply—trusting them to show her when it’s safe to engage with others. She’s incredibly loyal and loving once she feels secure. Lulu is both **housebroken and crate trained**, and knows her cues like *sit* and *paw*—which she gives in the daintiest, most heart-melting way. She adores toys, gets the zoomies with her person, and will often invite you to play with an enthusiastic play bow. She’s food-motivated but picky—don’t be surprised if she spits out treats that don’t meet her standards! She walks beautifully on leash, rides well in the car, and is a total cuddle bug. Grooming-wise, she does great with baths and brushing, though she’s not a fan of nail trims (she may flinch, but she’s never threatening). When it comes to other dogs, Lulu prefers to coexist rather than engage—she may need a moment to warm up but generally just keeps to herself. Given her fearful and sensitive nature, Lulu would thrive in a **quiet home with older children** who understand her need for patience and space. She's described by staff as “just a perfect dog”—chill, loving, playful, and full of potential.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lola, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
