My story

Hi guys, my name is Backdraft. I know what you're thinking. That's an uncommon name for a dog. Don't worry, it'll make more sense when I tell you my story. But grab your tissues first, cause it's a sad one. I was on my own, wandering the Ft. Lauderdale streets. I lived a hard life where I never had enough food, dogs couldn't be friends with each other, and there was no one to love me. Worst of all, a cruel stranger beat me with a baseball bat, leaving behind wounds that should make any dog never trust humans again. But I'm not just any dog. In the middle of the chaos, a kind firefighter found me and gave me a name to reflect my fiery spirit that never goes out. I was rushed to the Ranch, where I was treated and cared for. Despite all I've been through, I remain a happy, exuberant dog with a heart of gold. I live for hugs, toys, snacks, and playing with the hose. But my story isn't over yet. I still need to find a home. I'm looking for someone who will match my zest for life. Playtime is the best time! I will thrive with an experienced handler who understands that I grew up in a place where I had to catch my own food and other dogs were never kind to me, and I will need to be the only pet in a home because of that. I would benefit from further training, which the trainers at the Ranch would be glad to assist you with. I've already learned a little in my years waiting for a home, but what I really want is for someone to see a big, strong boy like me as an adventure instead of a challenge.
