Meet Luthien - A Gorgeous Long-Haired Black Cat! Luthien is a stunning long-haired black cat with a heart full of curiosity and shyness. At one year old, she has a gentle soul just waiting for the right person to help her fully blossom. Luthien's journey began when she was trapped as a 3-month-old kitten, making socialization a bit challenging. However, her mama cat was not feral, so Luthien is cautious rather than mean. In her foster home, she has made significant progress, allowing her foster mom to pet and brush her and even pick her up when necessary, although it's not her favorite. She eagerly runs to the treat spot every time her foster mom shakes the box. She gets along well with other cats but is more selective with dogs, preferring calm, gentle ones. Luthien will thrive with a patient adopter who understands that building trust takes time. Initially, she may benefit from being kenneled or confined to a small area in her new home for a few weeks as she acclimates because she will hide in a new environment at first. Over time, she will venture out more during the day, meowing or interacting when she feels safe. She enjoys watching the world from a cozy spot and appreciates a calm environment. She enjoys being brushed and petted but is not a lap cat and prefers attention on her terms. She loves tube treats but isn't fond of catnip.
