Name: Bonnie Nicknames: Bonnie boo. BonBon. Bunny. Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Mix Weight: ~7 lbs. Age: ~ 6 months Before OMD: Found as a stray and did her stray hold at the city shelter. They reached out to us, we had a foster commit, and picked her up from the shelter. Her original owner then decided to contact the city shelter wanting her back. We brought her back to the shelter for the owner to pick her up that day. Well, they never showed up and, after waiting for a few days and attempting to contact them, the shelter contacted us again and we went right back to pick her up... Energy level: High. She’s a bounce off the walls type of gal, with a nap here and there to recharge. Clinginess: Also high. She wants to be around you, touching you, snuggling you, on top of you… constantly. We should call her Joey because if she could be a baby kangaroo and be in a pouch with her mom all day (with some intermittent hopping around), her life would be complete. Confidence Level: In the home and with her people? She's a sassy little wild woman. With new people? She needs very slow intros as she is fearful and her first instinct, if rushed and not allowed to warm up slowly, is to snap. Her owner should be dedicated to working with her. What we love: Her precious underbite. Her endless kisses. What she loves most: Playtime with other dogs. Playing with anything she shouldn't be, including toilet paper and napkins. Being carried around like a baby. Salmon skin. Chicken Feet. Bully Sticks. What makes her nervous: Loud noises and lots of commotion. Dogs: Loves ‘em! The bigger the better. They should want a playful pup as a little sister. She does need to be fed, and have high value treats, separately. Cats: She’s currently fostered with cats and is friendly, but she is going to chase them, so it ultimately depends on the cat. Kids: Yes, she can live with dog-savvy and respectful kiddos as long as given appropriate time to warm up. She currently lives with a 3-year-old and has done well. Crate-trained: Yes and does well when left in a quiet spot. House-trained: Nope. Working on it, but she's a stubborn one. Bonnie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bonnie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
