My story

Otis von Osten is a gorgeous, 4-5 year-old, long-haired Shepherd mix. Otis is the kind of dog whose whole world revolves around a person. On walks, at rest and playing, you can always expect to see Otis’s gorgeous face smiling up at you to see if you’re happy with him — you’re the sun and he’s a sunflower. Otis can show you some commands like Sit, Down and Paw, and takes treats nicely. This black-and-brown boy likes other dogs, especially the calm ones, but is definitely more people-centric (no cats for this medium- energy boy, please). Come by and pet him to see — and keep petting him because being petted is his favorite. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
