My story

Look, let me level with you. I didn’t always think I was loveable. I was pretty sure I didn’t deserve it. Cuddling on the couch? Getting zoomies when my person came home? Yeah, that was the life of other dogs. Not dogs like me. Not until I got here. My previous life? I had to rely on myself. No ground rules. No boundaries. It was terrifying. I acted as tough as I could to get by. And that’s how I ended up in this place. My failure gave me the chance to meet people who really cared about me. Who dreamed of a life for me that I didn’t think I was good enough for. I didn’t believe them at first... but now, I think I do. Hear me out. I know this is going to sound unbelievable. But, one of these people took me on a car ride. No, really. I’m serious. I got to watch everything zoom by. Smells were flying past faster than I could identify them! Then, this story gets crazier. Stay with me here. We walked on some trails. Can you imagine? Me?! Acting like one of those dogs who gets to go on walks with their person?! I never thought I deserved that. But there I was. We walked the trails, relaxed near a pond, and soaked up the outdoor smells. My friend (never thought I would get to use that word!) was smiling and petting me and talking so sweetly. And it got me thinking... maybe I can be like those other dogs. With a house and a person. Maybe I am lovable. Now, here`s the thing. I`m looking for a home with adults—just the grown-up kind of people. I do better with dogs my size or bigger (no little guys, please). And, well, cats? Let`s just say we`re not a good match. So, here I am, putting it out there: my name is Bones. Could there really be people out there that believe in second chances? Because I`m ready to believe in them. Are you?~~~~~The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is open every day from noon until 6pm (excluding limited holidays/events).
