DOB 31-Dec-2013 Hi my name is Benny! I'm handsome and I know it. I'm 8 years old according to my medical records. I am a former stray, but you wouldn't know it after you get to know me! My foster said I adjusted very well to indoor life, very quickly and with no complaints. I am a very friendly cat with good social skills. My foster noted that I did not hide and was immediately asking for pets while assuming the 'flop' position! I will usually ask for pets in the middle of the night. I like to sleep a lot, more so if I am not being engaged with an activity but I will play a lot when my foster human engages me. I am most active at night and early morning, and will be your personal alarm clock when the sun rises. I will jump on your bed and chat away, just to make sure you're awake and alive. I like to make sure my human is okay! I like my space, but I also enjoy spending time with my human. I am especially good at helping you de-stress after a long day at work; it's kind of my specialty you know. I will hop on to your lap if invited too. But don't worry if you need to get up. I don't stay on laps for too long. You deserve your space too, after all! Benny has a mild heart murmur, and at this time it is manageable without any medication. A recent echocardiogram determined this, however the vet suggested follow up on an annual basis.. (Details from echocardiogram will be provided). Benny prone to dandruff, common in most black cats. Sometimes has excessive dandruff but this is of no concern and what I found very helpful is daily grooming, having a humidifier and adding Omega-3 oil to Benny's meals. Hypoallergenic/dandruff wipes also beneficial. Benny is not a fan of waterless dandruff-reducing shampoos. He needs access to scratching pads, or might designate your carpet to fulfill this purpose! Seems not to prefer vertical scratching posts. Prefers cardboard-style pads, laid down horizontally. Loves to climb on to stove top and not a fan of cat trees. he may benefit from a variety of choice of other cat-safe elevated surfaces. Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Benny, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
