My story

Meet Panda, he is about 4 years old, Chow Chow mix. Panda first came to the shelter back in 2021 as part of a hoarding situation, where he was living with numerous other dogs and was under socialized with people. He was fortunate enough to have received some socialization with the help of staff and volunteers and lived in an adoptive home for well over a year. He is still a little nervous with handling, but in the shelter, he has not shown any potential to fear bite. Panda deserves a second chance at life. He has lived a rough life this far and is looking to find a permanent home to live out his days living his best life. In his previous home, Panda did display some reactivity to people while on the leash and did have an undocumented bite to the husband in the home. Panda would like to meet every member in the household before going home. Once Panda is comfortable with his people, he can be protective so he will need to be kept in a crate or separate room when visitors enter the home. Panda does well with other dogs and might do better in a home with another dog. Due to Panda`s history as well as his notes in foster we recommend him going to a home with out children or with older children who will respect his need for space.Panda`s foster shares with us that he has done well with with the other dogs in the home and can be seen ocationally joining in on some play but prefers to watch rather then engage. His foster also reports that he is a dream to walk on leash and is house broken using a doggy door.Panda`s foster says `I think Panda’s dream home would be an older single person with a quiet lifestyle. He does ok with people coming over, as long as they let him have his space. I think once he chooses someone as his person he will be a great companion. He follows me anywhere I go in the house, so I think he would be perfect for someone wanting a buddy- as long as they understand it will take him a while to warm up. He would be ok with other dogs as long as they are not too over the top or pushy`

If you have any questions or would like to adopt PANDA, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
