Tokyo is an almost 2 year old mini Goldendoodle - ?? ?? ?? “OMIGOD! A “PUREBREAD” DOODLE!!! When can I pick him up! How much is he?! My kids have been begging for one! I have asthma and need a doodle. Can you ship him to me in California? “ ?? Okay got it out of your system now!? This isn’t your average doodle and that’s the kind of thinking that got him a bite history, passed around through 3 homes, and almost killed before his second birthday? ? Calm down, read his full bio and then if you still think he may be a good fit impress us with your reading comprehension ability and email us ? Tokyo is adorable, soft and floofy, but is a chihuahua in a doodle body, just with much larger teeth and legs. He’s been given away by multiple people not equipped to handle him, due to lack of training or understanding of basic dog behavior. He’s a complicated nervous guy, was very undersocialized and startles easily (even his own tail scares him sometimes, literally if it hits something that makes a noise when he’s not expecting). Among the list of triggers of his past incidents were grabbing his collar, taking his food or toys, strangers approaching too quickly, and trying to stop him from humping someone (he’s now been neutered so at least hopefully that resolves the last issue at least ? ? ??). We have been just giving him space and letting him chill and his hormones settle and he’s actually been quite easy and pleasant to live with for us and we have only seen minor glimpses of his issues but he’s easily managed and very happy in the right situation. We didn’t even try to pet or touch him the first week as tempting as it was to boop that adorable nose. He was pretty matted and had to be shaved so unfortunately isn’t as cute right now but he will be again once it grows out. He is 35lbs full grown, is crate-trained, knows some commands and is very smart and food motivated with lots of potential if he finds that one right person. We think his ideal home would be just one or maybe 2 people who will go slow as he’s bonding. No kids obviously, we don’t want him getting on the news for those reasons. He responds well to positive reinforcement training only, physical corrections will not go well for him or especially for you If you haven’t just looked at his cute photos, have actually read all the way to the end and understood this post and his needs, and think you might be a fit please email njwoof@cs.com and submit an application from www.secondchance.petfinder.com so we can see if you would be a good fit and set up a meeting. He is fostered in Northern NJ and we will only place him locally, no shipping. We think Tokyo has the potential to be a very good boy or very evil... as his future adopter, his fate depends on you and your bond with him. ? ? Due to COVID-19, we will not be holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we can schedule socially distant appointments with a specific dog outdoors at our vet’s office: VCA Morris Plains Animal Hospital 3009 Rt 10 East Morris Plains (Denville on GPS) NJ 07950 Now is the perfect time to open your home to a needy dog! Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tokyo the Bitin’-Doodle, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
