My story

Cody is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH), male, DOB: 3/15/14. Make no mistake about it, this endearing, seasoned gentleman, Cody, has a great fondness for the simpler things in life: a comfy couch to sit on and a friend to share it with. With a purr motor to be reckoned with, he'll have no problem letting you know how he feels, especially when it comes to breakfast, which is one of his favorite times of the day (us too). He particularly likes head scratches and ear rubs too - armed with a willingness to pet and a few of his favorite treats, you won't have to work hard to get in his good graces. A fairly large cat, Cody is calm and easy-to-please with a comfort zone he likes to operate in, but being a no-nonsense, pretty confident feline means he’ll warm-up quickly given a little time to settle in and become familiar with a new environment. With an easy-going independence, he enjoys taking strolls to explore his environment and on occasion will show a spark of delightful playfulness when a stray dust bunny or a toy that grabs his interest. Cody came to Monroe SPCA from a unique situation - his previous owner was incapacitated and due to medical reasons, had to live in a long-term recovery facility. Cody was left behind, living alone for an extended period of time, only being fed by a family member. When he came to us he was severely matted along his backside, which had to be shaved; his fur was brittle and in poor condition - after months of an improved diet and meeting his grooming needs, his coat has improved dramatically. On intake we also treated him for a severe UTI - he's now on a special diet of Urinary Maintenance and bladder health support supplements. He was treated for Giardia, Coccidia, fleas, and Tape and Roundworm as well while with us. Now a fully healed, happy, and confident feline, Cody is currently on a special diet: Urinary Maintenance and bladder health support supplements. He's looking for a forever family to welcome and embrace him as a life-long, beloved companion and family member, while at the same time, helping him stay happy and healthy by meeting his dietary needs. Cody is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs, but he’ll need some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Cody currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cody, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
