My story

Moxie is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 4/15/23. Simply adorable, this wide-eyed young feline is social, super friendly, and quick to initiate and welcome new friendships. Intelligent but also highly sensitive, Moxie entirely wears her heart on her sleeve – trust is a two-way street and a priority with her. While also an extremely social cat who is willing to initiate and accept hands-on attention and affection, it’s pretty much on her terms. A sweet and sincere cat, she isn’t particularly shy about letting her people know when she’d rather be on her own for a bit either. Not much older than a kitten herself, this delightfully charming feline is both friendly and gentle, as well as lively, animated, and very playful; but as she’s still settling in, she can be somewhat hesitant about things unfamiliar to her. Super interactive and loving with people, but not yet completely confident about being picked-up and held, she shows her appreciation and affection with rigorous purrs and enthusiastic head bumps when pets are offered from visitors. An intelligent, super sweet and gentle beauty, Moxie is a people-cat; once that initial hesitation with new places wears off, we believe she will love to hang out on a couch with her family members. Moxie, along with her littermates, Sprite, Fig, and Bluebell: came to Monroe SPCA as orphans needing critical care - emaciated, dehydrated, mom hit by a car. They spent their first months with Monroe SPCA in medical foster being treated for URIs, getting them to healthy weights, along with being treated for Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, and fleas. Now a happy, healthy feline, Moxie is looking for her forever home with a family who can give her the time and attention a young cat needs. Although Moxie can be adopted individually, we recommend a pairing with several of our other young cats having compatible personalities and temperament. Moxie is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). She is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and she’ll be comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into her new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Moxie currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet her by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Moxie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
