My story

Polly was found stray roaming the streets in Houston. She is a red and white beagle, about 3.5 years old, and about 14 inches tall, with a short, compact body. She is friendly, gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home, and has perfect house manners. She has the run of the house when her foster mom is around, with access to a dog door which she mastered immediately. She is crated when no one is at home. She goes in the crate willingly with the help of a treat and is quiet and well behaved when crated. Polly uses her paw to let you know when she wants attention. She enjoys head pets and belly rubs. She likes going out to the yard to sit out there when the weather is good, sometimes barking at the neighbor’s dogs. She is a medium energy dog, not a digger and not destructive. Wherever she was before we found her, Polly must have had access to a lot of food. She came in weighing 35 lb., when her ideal weight would probably be 24-25 lb. Since arriving at her foster home, she has been on a diet and going on daily walks, and has dropped her weight to 30 lb. So, she is looking great, but there is still some work to do. She loves her leash walks, and we would like her to go to a forever home where she is walked and/or exercised regularly. Polly could be an only dog or live with a pack. She is heartworm negative, and ready to find her forever family. If you think Polly may be the right beagle for you, please fill out an application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Polly, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
