My story

Please read profile carefully. Trixie is a 6-7 year old bichon/poodle mix looking for a dog savvy foster to adopt person. Ideal home is single woman, no other pets, a single family home that is quiet, fence is a plus. After losing her long time home, due to owner's death, probable lack of proper socialization in that home and lack of confidence, Trixie has anxiety that we are working thru with desensitizing training and meds-she is very smart and positively learning pretty quickly. Her ideal home would be a single woman with no other pets and willing to help with some training, with guidance from our trainer (Positive reinforcement techiniques only are a must). Must be willing to allow Trixie to learn to trust at her own pace. Trixie is active, loving and fun. Will follow her person everywhere and bonds quickly. Will need time to decompress and will need her person to allow her to have that time. Came to us in neglected and painful condition-was very matted with 3 large bladder stones that must have been making her miserable for a long time as well as a severe ear infection. She is doing wonderfully after treatment. As she was in an adult only home for her entire life, we prefer she go to a adult home. While she is okay with other dogs, Trixie can be a bit pushy with food and toys she never needed to share before and would be perfectly happy as an only dog. Looking for someone to allow her time to once more feel loved after losing her home. Typically once dogs have had a bladder stone, they should remain on a urinary diet and have occasional urinanalysis. Please note-an application is required prior to any meet and greets. There is no fee or obligation. Go to Almosthomedogs.org, click on "Adopt" tab at top if interested in adopting or "Foster" if interested in giving her a temporary foster home. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org. Adoption Fee is $350. All dogs older than six months will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Dogs also have vaccines that are age appropriate, fecal check, treatment if needed, a vet physical, flea/tick treatment, All of our dogs will be microchipped. We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check or cash is preferred payment.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Trixie (watch my video), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
