My story

Hi, my name is Monty... I’m a 7 - 8 year old cat. I recently became homeless when I was abandoned by my owners who moved and didn’t take me with them. I guess they figured I could survive on my own outside... sigh! Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck finding a good, stable home my whole life. I’ve lost count, but I think I’ve had about four different owners in my short life, each time being passed along to family members or friends when people didn’t want the commitment of keeping me forever. My foster family says because of my history, I haven’t had a chance to build a long, trusting relationship with someone. They also feel based on how I act sometimes - I was treated very badly in the past and abused. Now, I know I wasn’t abandoned and abused because of my looks. I’m a very handsome boy with beautiful big, green eyes, a shiny coat and the cutest pink nose! I also have a pretty good personality. I’m very curious and like to explore, and enjoy lounging in the sun. But my “favourite-est” thing to do is sit by the window and watch all the activity outside (kitty version of “reality tv”). And don’t let my age fool you; I’m no couch potato. I’m playful and super athletic - I go crazy for catnip, like to chase string, and ambush attack my toy mice and balls. Did you know I also have very sweet chirps and meows and like to talk to my foster family? Once I’ve warmed up to, and am comfortable with you, I will come up to you for attention and company. I love to give little nudges and head butts, rub on your legs and to have my cheeks scratched and back rubbed, and I will literally roll over, purr and drool - ah, what bliss! Other times, I’m just as happy being in the room with my foster family and hanging out, or will go off and do my own thing. But I have to be totally honest, despite my many wonderful qualities, I act like a tough guy when in fact I’m just a big, “scaredy cat”. I don’t mean to be a nervous kitty. I know that over time, as I build trust with someone, and in a patient and loving home, where I can grow at my own pace, these tendencies will soften and I will finally get the chance to blossom into the confident cat I know I can be. I’m now looking forward to the next chapter of my life. I’d do better in a quiet and calm home (no young children) with “cat experienced” people. Though I must admit, I’m not too fond of my own feline kind or canines, so I’ll need to be your only pet. And given my history, I must strictly be an indoor cat. Monty is a beautiful, special cat and once you understand him and his history he will be your friend for life. He has had a hard life and deserves to finally find a loving, forever home. Can you find it in your heart to adopt this little boy and help him forget about his horrible past? Monty is participating in our Courtesy Adoption Posting Program and is not the property of Toronto Cat Rescue. Toronto Cat Rescue does not accept responsibility for any pet placements that result from this service. If you need more info or would like to adopt please contact Gauri directly at (416) 576-5161 or 4everhomerescue@gmail.com. Thank you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Monty, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
