We had just put our white shepherd down after 14 1/2 yrs and started looking almost immediately for another dog for my husband’s companion and our husky mix too. We had almost given up after seeing several rescues and went to see just one more before figuring we just weren’t meant to find our third perfect rescue dog! Then a new shepherd husky mix showed up on my email and he looked soo cute I had to find out more about him. Turns out he was owner surrendered because the man was too old to take care of him anymore. I put a deposit down on him so they would hold him for us until we could get to the humane society to see him at the end of the week. We started to get excited. The next day I got a call that he had tested strong positive for heartworms. They had to let me know the situation because they said some people back off adopting then. After talking to them and my daughter who is a Vet Tech and her Vet friends and they assured me that today’s heartworm treatment works so much better than past cures I decided to go ahead with the adoption. We met Champ this morning and fell in love with his easy temperament and since our husky mix totally ignored him at first we took that as a good sign too. We have him home now with us and after a day of us all getting used to each other he is now sleeping on the floor at my feet and next to my husband who is on the floor next to him! What a perfect end to a day of finding our next best rescue buddy!
