Pamela O’Rourke

Appointed President of PetSmart Canada in spring 2026, Pamela O’Rourke leads the company’s Canadian operations, including the Canadian Home Office and stores across the country. 

Pamela is a proven retail leader with more than three decades of experience driving growth, leading large-scale teams, and delivering strong business results. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Merchandising and Chief Merchandising Officer for The Home Depot Canada, where she leveraged her expertise to build and scale innovative merchandising, planning, and product development teams across a multibillion-dollar business. 

A people-focused leader, Pamela is passionate about developing high-performing talent and fostering a culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous growth.

As a Board Member and Chair of The Home Depot Canada Foundation, Pamela helped significantly expand the Foundation’s reach in the fight to end youth homelessness by building collaborative partnerships and increasing fundraising fivefold.

Why are pets important in people’s lives?

I have been fortunate to care for some wonderful pets who became part of our family and continue to hold special places in our hearts. My first pet was Pierre, a beautiful white cat who taught us the joy and responsibility of caring for an animal, as well as the heartbreak of loss.

What do you find most exciting about working with PetSmart Charities of Canada?

I am inspired by the mission of PetSmart Charities of Canada and by the way the human-animal bond helps build stronger families and communities. I look forward to working with this dedicated Board to advance strategic initiatives that create a meaningful impact on pets and the people who love them.

What motivates you to be involved in the future of animal welfare?

I value the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of communities across Canada by supporting animal welfare partners on the front lines. Their work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and the people who care for them, and I am proud to help advance that important mission.
