Mavis

My story

Meet Mavis is a beautiful six-year-old, 55-pound herding dog mix with distinctive adorable tan eyebrows! PetPoint lists Mavis as an Australian Cattle Dog, but with her black, tan, and white coloring and those classic Kelpie-like markings, we suspect she may have some Australian Kelpie in her family tree. Whatever the mix, Mavis is one lovely girl! Mavis enjoys being with people and is happiest when she has someone to accompany. One of her favorite activities is trotting right alongside her person on a walk. She is calm around other dogs when out and about, making her a delightful walking companion. Mavis can be reactive toward other dogs when she is behind a barrier, such as in her kennel or a yard. Her behavior is quite different on walks, where she remains calm around dogs. As a herding dog, Mavis also enjoys having a job to do, so she would thrive with an adopter who enjoys training and wants to give her opportunities to use her brain and natural talents. Mavis is good company, a wonderful walking buddy, and a girl with plenty of potential. She is ready to find a family who will appreciate her unique personality and give her the structure, training, and companionship she loves. Mavis’s adoption fee is $250 and includes spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. To meet Mavis, please call 602-971-1334 to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome Thursday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mavis, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
