My story

Meet Charles Barkley, a seven-year-old, 21-pound Chihuahua mix with a pretty smile, a gentle spirit, and a serious appreciation for the finer things in life, like comfy couches and relaxing days with his favorite people! Charles was found as a stray wearing a collar with his name on it, so we decided to keep the name that brought him to us. We suspect he may be a little older than the estimated seven years. Charles is a mellow, low-key guy who would be perfectly happy settling into a quiet household and enjoying his golden years at a leisurely pace. He can be a little cautious and timid when he first meets someone, but once he realizes he’s among friends, his incredibly sweet personality starts to shine. And while Charles may be a couch potato at heart, he has also shown us his playful side with squeaky toys. Charles came to us from the county’s E-list because he needed medical care. He arrived with kennel cough, a slight heart murmur, and significant dental disease. Thanks to the care he received, his cough is gone, he doesn’t currently need medication for his heart, and he had eight painful teeth removed during his dental procedure. With those troublesome teeth behind him, Charles is feeling much better and ready to enjoy life! Charles would love a peaceful home where he can take things easy, enjoy some cozy couch time, play with a squeaky toy now and then, and soak up the love he deserves. Charles’s adoption fee is $150 and covers essential services including neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
