QUICK FACTS Name: Lucy Age: 5 years old (Estimated to be born June 2021) Gender: Female (Spayed) Breed: Terrier mix Color: Black (with some white fur) Weight:  7.1kg / 15.5lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY I was rescued from a devastating forest fire that turned my world upside down. Thankfully, rescuers were able to bring me to safety and give me the second chance I desperately needed. I may never be able to tell you exactly what I experienced before I was rescued, but those frightening days are behind me now. I’m safe, cared for, and ready to begin a brand new chapter. Now, all I’m missing is a forever family who will fill the rest of my life with love, safety, and happy memories.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues   MY PERSONALITY I can be a little shy when we first meet, but once I warm up, my affectionate side quickly comes out. I form strong bonds with people and look to my humans for emotional comfort and reassurance. Once I trust you, I love staying close and soaking up all the affection you have to give. I also have the cutest, most unique look, with a little Chihuahua-like face mixed with Terrier features. Trust me, I’m even cuter in person! I get along well with my dog friends too and enjoy having them around. I’m a sweet, sensitive girl who simply needs a little time to feel safe before showing you just how much love I have to give.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little shy when we first meet, but once I feel comfortable, my affectionate side quickly comes out. I’ll happily follow you around, stay close by your side, and soak up all the love and attention you have to give. I promise I’m worth the wait! Once I trust you, I’m comfortable being picked up and held, and I may even roll over to show you my belly. Just give me a little time to feel safe, and you’ll discover the sweet, loving girl underneath my shy exterior. · With Dogs: I’m friendly and social with my dog friends! I enjoy greeting new dogs and love joining them for some playtime. I generally get along best with dogs around my size or bigger who have a compatible play style. While I’m friendly, I’m also not afraid to stand up for myself if another dog becomes too pushy or doesn’t respect my boundaries. Thoughtful introductions and a respectful canine companion will help make sure everyone feels comfortable. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring, and having fun, but once I’ve had my activity and excitement, I’m more than happy to come inside and relax comfortably indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I’m still working on perfecting my leash manners and may pull at times, but overall I follow my handler’s lead nicely. I also have great manners around food and don’t guard my meals or treats from either people or other dogs. I may bark occasionally, but I settle down quickly and know how to rest calmly in my kennel when it’s time to relax. For potty habits, I prefer doing my business outdoors, so a consistent walking schedule in my forever home will help me maintain my good routine.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever   SPECIAL NOTES I may look like a tiny little black bean, but there’s a whole lot of love packed inside me! I can be a little shy in the beginning and just need some time to understand that I’m safe. Once I warm up, though, I form a strong bond with my people and love staying close, following you around, and showing off my affectionate side. I find so much comfort in the people I trust and will happily become your loyal little shadow.
