MEET BOGEY — 18 POUNDS OF WIGGLES, HAPPINESS & ZERO INTEREST IN DRAMA Hi, I’m Bogey! I’m two years old, a whopping 18 pounds, and quite possibly the happiest little stinker you’ll ever meet. I’m tiny, adorable, ridiculously wiggly, and somewhere around a Stage 5 clinger when it comes to my people. If you’re looking for a dog who respects personal space and quietly minds his own business from across the room, I should probably tell you right now that I am absolutely not your guy. I like to know where you are, what you’re doing, where we’re going next, and whether there is room beside you—or preferably directly on you—for one very small French Bulldog. I’VE COME A LONG WAY When I first joined the Freedom Squad, I wasn’t feeling like myself at all. I came into rescue with severe stiffness and pain in my neck that affected almost everything I did. I couldn’t walk normally, my neck would twitch, I would whimper because I was hurting, and simple things like eating, playing, resting, and trying to get comfortable were difficult for me. I also arrived with some skin issues that we are still working on, so my little body definitely needed some help when I got here. The good news is that I have made incredible progress, and now everyone is finally getting to see the happy, playful little guy who was hiding underneath all that discomfort. THEN I MET THIS MAGICAL PERSON CALLED A CHIROPRACTOR Nobody really explained to me what a chiropractor was before my first appointment, but apparently this person had some serious magic hiding in those hands. After my very first chiropractic appointment, I was already PLAYING that same evening, which was a huge change considering how uncomfortable I had been before. I have now had three appointments, and my rescue has seen a major difference in my comfort, mobility, movement, and overall quality of life. I’m playing with my friends, moving around more comfortably, and finally getting to act like the silly little two-year-old I was supposed to be all along. MY CHIROPRACTIC CARE MUST CONTINUE This is one of the most important things my future family needs to understand about adopting me. Freedom Frenchie Rescue will be looking for an adopter who is committed to continuing my chiropractic care because these appointments have become an important part of keeping me comfortable, mobile, and thriving. This isn’t something my family should plan on doing only when I start showing signs of discomfort again; we want to stay ahead of it and continue the care that has helped me make so much progress. I finally know what it feels like to move comfortably, play with my friends, and enjoy being a goofy little dog, and everyone wants to make sure I get to keep doing exactly that. FRIENDS OVER FIGHTS — ALWAYS I absolutely LOVE other dogs, and having dog friends is one of my favorite parts of life. I’m playful, social, and happy to be part of the crew, but what makes me extra special is that I really have no interest in anybody’s negativity. If another dog decides they woke up on the wrong side of the dog bed and wants to bring drama to the party, I’m usually heading in the opposite direction because confrontation is simply not on my daily agenda. I would much rather play, chase my friends around, find something fun to do, and then pile up somewhere comfortable with everybody. My philosophy is pretty simple: friends over fights, good vibes over drama, and snacks whenever possible. SHAKE WHAT YOUR MAMA GAVE YA You might be wondering how I ended up with the name Bogey, but spend about five minutes with me and you’ll quickly realize that my personality is almost as memorable as my little wiggly body. When I get excited, I don’t believe a simple tail wag properly communicates the level of happiness happening inside me, so my entire back end gets involved. My booty wiggles, my body wiggles, and before long all 18 pounds of me are doing a ridiculous little happy dance that makes everyone around me laugh. I don’t just wag my tail when I’m happy—I put my whole body into the performance, because if you’re going to celebrate life, you might as well shake what your mama gave ya. WHERE ARE YOU GOING? BECAUSE I’M COMING TOO. Remember when I mentioned that Stage 5 clinger situation? I wasn’t exaggerating. I love being with my people, and if you’re going somewhere, my first assumption is naturally that I have also been invited. I do pretty well in the car, although I personally believe the safest and most appropriate place for an 18-pound Bogey is directly in your lap. Apparently, the humans at Freedom Frenchie Rescue have reviewed my transportation proposal and denied it, so I’m learning that my car seat is where I need to stay while we’re driving. My leash skills are also coming along really well, and I’m confident enough to take the lead, explore, sniff around, and see where our next adventure takes us—as long as you’re coming with me. POTTY TRAINED? YES! I’m potty trained and doing really well with my routine, although I may occasionally attempt to sneak in a little marking here and there because apparently I sometimes feel the need to leave a tiny Bogey signature behind. Since being neutered, that behavior has already been decreasing, and with consistency and structure I should continue heading in the right direction. I also do pretty well in my crate and don’t spend a bunch of time crying or carrying on about being in there. After one of my chiropractic appointments, though, you might as well find me the softest comfortable spot available because your boy takes recovery very seriously, and I am usually ready for one spectacularly long nap. TINY BUT MIGHTY At only 18 pounds, I could stand to put on a couple more pounds, but nobody wants me turning into a chunky little potato either. Keeping me lean and at a healthy weight will be important throughout my life because we don’t want to put unnecessary stress on my neck, back, joints, or the rest of my little body. I’ve already experienced what life feels like when moving hurts, and now that I know what it feels like to be comfortable enough to play, wiggle, chase my friends, cuddle my people, explore the world, and simply feel GOOD, I have absolutely no intention of going backward. I’M READY FOR THE GOOD PART My beginning with Freedom Frenchie Rescue wasn’t exactly easy, but watching me now, you would never know how uncomfortable I was when I arrived. I’m finally getting to be the silly, affectionate, dog-loving, people-clinging little guy I was meant to be, and I need a family who wants to protect the progress I’ve made while letting me live my very best life. If you’re looking for a tiny shadow with a wiggly booty, a ridiculous amount of happiness, zero interest in drama, plenty of dog-friendly energy, and enough love to fill your entire house, then you might have just found your guy. I’m Bogey, and I’ve been waiting for you. ADOPTION & MEDICAL REQUIREMENT Bogey’s adopter must be committed to continuing his chiropractic care so we can keep him comfortable, mobile, and thriving. Freedom Frenchie Rescue will require confirmation that his ongoing chiropractic appointments are being maintained as part of his adoption plan.
