My story

Weezy- Original Soul Train Dancer PLOT TWIST… THERE ARE NO BABIES Hey guys, I’m Weezy! I came to Freedom Frenchie Rescue from San Bernardino City Shelter, and everybody thought I was pregnant. X-rays, ultrasound…the whole shebang. Well, surprise! The rescue confirmed I was NOT pregnant. What I did have was pyometra, a dangerous infection in my uterus, so they got me spayed immediately. Definitely not the baby shower everyone was expecting, but I’m healthy now and that’s what matters! I NEEDED A MINUTE, OKAY? When I first came in, I was VERY timid and scared. I spent my first few days mostly hanging out in my crate while I figured out my temporary foster in California and decided whether these people could be trusted. Nobody rushed me. Once I realized I was safe and built that trust, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there. Give a girl a minute and let her come to you — I promise I’m worth the wait. EXCUSE ME WHILE I GLOW UP I also came in with mange and was missing a LOT of fur. But look at me now! My coat is filling in beautifully, my body has finally proportioned out evenly, and I’m feeling GOOD and healthy. I still need a bath every few days to help keep my skin looking and feeling its best. Luckily, I don’t mind a good spa day. SIDE-EYE ME. I DARE YOU. One thing you need to understand about me: I AM HAPPY. Look at me? Wiggles. Talk to me? Wiggles. Side-eye me? EXTREME WIGGLES. My whole body gets involved. My little tail is still missing some fur, so you can REALLY see that thing whipping back and forth when I’m excited. There is absolutely no hiding my emotions. I SHOULD’VE BEEN ON SOUL TRAIN I have this little trot I do where I high-step with my front legs, put my head down, wiggle my body, shake my butt AND move my tail at the same time. I have no idea how I’m physically capable of moving every single body part independently, but here we are. Maybe I secretly do yoga while everybody sleeps. Personally, I think I was a Soul Train dancer in my last life. LISTENING SKILLS: CURRENTLY UNDER DEVELOPMENT As far as listening skills go…we don’t have a whole lot to brag about yet. But I DO go into my crate when I’m told. You just have to open the crate door, point inside and stand there like you mean business. Then I’m like, “Ohhhh, you were talking to ME?” Fine. I’ll go. I KEEP MY ROOM CLEAN I don’t have accidents in my crate, and so far I haven’t had accidents in the house either! I even learned how to use the doggie door. So technically, I’m pretty freaking smart. Whether I choose to demonstrate that intelligence at the exact moment you’d like me to is another story. THE DOGGIE DOOR WORKS ON MY SCHEDULE I know EXACTLY how that doggie door works. If I’m outside and I’m supposed to STAY outside to potty, suddenly I’m flying through that thing trying to sneak back in. But when you actually WANT me to use it? Nope. I’ll stand there and wait for you to open the regular door, then wiggle my way past you like I just won. Selective participation. Look it up. SO…HOW DID I GET THE NAME WEEZY? Glad you asked. I make little wheezing noises when I eat. When I sleep, I basically purr like a kitten while wheezing my way through my dreams. It’s a whole soundtrack. I’ve got rhythm. I’ve got soul. I’ve got wheezes. Weezy just fits. PROFESSIONAL NAPPER I LOVE a big, long nap curled up in my Muddy Mat bed. That thing basically wraps around me and I disappear into it. I also love chewing on bones, cuddling and sharing the bed with my foster siblings. I’m not complicated. Give me something to chew, somewhere soft to curl up and somebody to love me and we’re doing just fine. YES, I KNOW I LOOK CUTE I like wearing clothes and I’m actually pretty good at it. More importantly, I look adorable, so obviously we’re going to continue doing that. I also don’t mind baths, which works out perfectly because keeping up with them right now is helping my skin and coat continue looking healthy. I LIKE FRIENDS…JUST DON’T LIVE INSIDE MY MOUTH I LOVE having dog friends and I’ve gotten along with every dog I’ve met. There was ONE time I had to warn another dog because they were way too far up in my face. Listen, I like friends. I don’t mind you being close. But I have boundaries, and everyone should. I gave my warning, made my point and moved on. That’s called communication, people. MOM’S HOME — ACT NORMAL When my foster mom gets home, my ears start fluttering with excitement and obviously the wiggles activate immediately. But I don’t bark and cry from my crate demanding to be first. I wait my turn for her to let me out so I can collect ALLLLLL the love in the world. Manners? Apparently I do have some. MA’AM, PLEASE STOP HERDING ME My foster sister has apparently appointed herself Director of Getting Everyone Outside. She likes to herd everybody like it’s her full-time job. I, however, take my sweet time. I’m coming! Wiggling around is FAR too important to rush. You can’t hurry an artist. I JUST LOVE TO LOVE So that’s me. I came into rescue scared, timid, sick and unsure of people. I needed a few days and a little patience to understand that I was finally safe. Once I trusted, the real Weezy came out — happy, goofy, affectionate, dog-friendly, cuddly, slightly hard of hearing when convenient and capable of moving approximately 47 body parts at the same time. My name is Weezy. I’m two years old, I’ve got soul, I’ve got wiggles, and more than anything…I love to love and be loved. Weezy is spay, vaccinated, and microchipped, her adoption donation fee is $1150.00. She is being fostered in Mesa, AZ and you can apply for her at freedomfrenchierescue.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Weezy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
