Miles is an adorable 1½-year-old, 12-pound Chihuahua mix who recently joined Friends for Life and is looking for his forever home!Miles may not have been particularly impressed with his photo shoot, but he discovered one definite perk: the photography helpers make excellent snuggle buddies! This sweet little guy is still adjusting to the sights, sounds and activity of shelter life, but through it all, Miles has maintained a wonderfully happy demeanor. He’s calm, easy to handle and seems to find comfort and confidence when he has a friendly human nearby.Once Miles decides you’re one of his people, he’s perfectly content to be picked up and carried—and we suspect he wouldn’t object if his paws never had to touch the ground again! He’s currently working on his leash manners. Miles hasn’t quite mastered the concept of walking in a straight line yet and prefers a more creative, weaving-back-and-forth approach. With a little patience and practice, we think he’ll get the hang of it.Miles will play with toys briefly, but toys have some pretty stiff competition. Offer him a warm lap, gentle affection and the opportunity to snuggle close, and suddenly he knows exactly where he wants to be.We suspect even more of Miles’ wonderful little personality will emerge once he trades the shelter environment for the comfort and security of a home. If you’re looking for a pint-sized companion with a happy disposition who believes quality cuddle time beats playtime, come meet Miles. He’d be delighted to audition for the position of your new favorite snuggle buddy! To get started in the process of meeting Miles, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors. No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In the event there is more than one home interested in the same animal, a lottery may be held that will include all families that are at our adoption center at the time we open the day the animal becomes available. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Miles, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
