My story

Meet Simone Simone is thought to be a Havanese mix who has come a long way in a short time. This shy, peaceful girl is quietly discovering how wonderful life can be, and her brave, curious spirit shines through as she explores her surroundings. Simone is happiest when she is near other dogs. She easily attaches to canine companions, enjoys playing with both male and female dogs, and would likely thrive in a home with a friendly dog to show her the ropes. She has little recall of her own but happily follows dogs who do, making a secure, fenced yard ideal for her. Although Simone is happy to see her people, she is more comfortable with dogs than with being cuddled or petted. She does not enjoy being picked up, but she remains gentle and will not struggle to get away. She is submissive, mellow and sweet-natured, while also showing growing confidence and curiosity. Simone likes both men and women and is good with other animals. Simone is food-motivated, an excellent eater and not a food guarder. She is crate trained, sleeps soundly through the night in her crate and willingly goes in on her own. She travels well in her crate and can be left alone uncrated. Her house training is progressing nicely; she is taken out frequently because she does not yet know how to signal that she needs to go, but she keeps her crate clean. She is also leash and obedience trained and knows heel. Simone loves outdoor time, where she can run, play and enjoy her freedom safely. Her ideal family will offer her a calm routine, gentle encouragement and the companionship of a confident canine friend. In return, Simone will bring a quiet, loving presence and plenty of soft, happy moments as she continues to blossom. Simone recently had 17 teeth removed and is doing well. She has bilateral luxating patellas that currently cause no issues, and ongoing ear care is recommended following a treated infection. She is ready for a patient, understanding family who will appreciate her gentle nature and allow affection to grow at her own pace. Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support. Please visit our website www.preciouspawsrescue.ca to submit an adoption application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Simone, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
