My story

Honey Bear was just 1 year old when she and her brother, Asher, were dumped in the woods and left to survive on their own. With no food, no water, and plenty of predators in the East Texas woods, they were incredibly lucky when someone out walking found them and brought them to rescue. Despite everything she went through, Honey Bear is an incredibly sweet and loving girl. She gets along wonderfully with the other dogs and cats in her foster home and has adjusted beautifully to living indoors. So many things we take for granted were completely new to Honey Bear. She has now discovered toys, dog beds, and dog cots-and she is learning how wonderful it is to have comfortable places of her very own. Everyday household sounds like the TV, dishwasher, vacuum, washer and dryer, and even the shower were once unfamiliar, but she has adjusted amazingly well. Honey Bear sleeps in an exercise pen at night with no accidents. She is still learning how to ask to go outside, but she has started whining when she needs to go, so she is definitely figuring it out! She is also learning basic commands such as sit, stay, and come. Honey Bear is very food motivated and loves treats, which makes training much easier. She came to us with a little counter-surfing habit, but she has already gotten much better about that too. She also rides very well in the car, so she would be happy to join her family on adventures. Most of all, Honey Bear simply wants to be loved. She has gone from trying to survive alone in the woods to discovering toys, soft beds, treats, and what it means to feel safe inside a home. Now she just needs one more thing-a family and home of her very own. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate young girl who is eager to learn and ready to be loved, Honey Bear may be the perfect addition to your family.
