My story

Butterbean is a sweet, very affectionate, rambunctious kitten who loves hard and plays hard. He has lots of energy and loves to have a good time. He loves kitty rollercoasters (aka sitting in a box while his humans make the box fly or “drive” around erratically in all directions). He is also always one of the first two cats, along with his sibling Turtle Bean, to climb into an available lap, ready for some cuddles.Butterbean is one of a litter of five incredibly special kittens who fought for several weeks to beat a nasty bout of feline coronavirus. They have been doing very well since their last treatment ended, after a relatively mild relapse. Since the bean babies were sick, they could not be integrated into the household, where we had a bottle feeder who would have been vulnerable to the virus. So, Butterbean and his siblings may need a bit of time to adjust to a new, larger space. However, since they are also incredibly resilient and were handled regularly since birth, they are expected to adjust very well once they get used to their new home and people. Butterbean also loves people and is not usually too shy meeting new people in “the bean room,” where he feels safe. He has not been around young children or dogs, so we don’t know how he would react to them, but homes with calm, gentle, older children or dogs may be okay. Butterbean will need to have a cat buddy close in age. Since some cats exposed to coronavirus may occasionally shed the virus, adopting him with one or more of his siblings may feel like a safer option. If you already have a cat, it may help to know that this virus is extremely common; most cats in multi-cat homes encounter it at some point, and for the vast majority, it causes only mild, temporary symptoms. However, very young kittens or cats with weak immune systems can experience stronger symptoms, and in rare situations the virus can change into FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis). Although FIP is serious, there are treatments available, now, and most cats respond well with proper care.Butterbean is full of life and unbridled enthusiasm. He loves to play so much that occasionally he will be the only kitten not running to a food dish at dinner time. But he eats very well and has a great appetite, so you never have to worry that he won’t get around to eating, once he’s all played out. He also loves his humans and, when he wants attention, he will meow, climb into your lap, or maybe even jump onto you

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Butterbean*Must be adopted wit, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
