Everyone Fell in Love with Brisket... Meet the Next Best Thing. Sometimes Life Changes, Even When Love Doesn't Hi, I'm Vinnie. Just over a few months ago, I thought I had found my forever family. Unfortunately, life had other plans. My adopter experienced a sudden family emergency that required him to leave the country with no clear timeline for returning home. Freedom Frenchie Rescue waited as long as they possibly could, hoping there would be a date circled on the calendar when we could be reunited, but that day never came. As heartbreaking as it was for everyone involved, rescue is about making impossible decisions so more dogs can be saved. Every foster home and every open couch represents another life waiting for a chance, and right now every single one of those spaces matters. Healthy, adoptable dogs simply can't stay in rescue forever when so many others are waiting for someone to save them. So, here I am again—not because I wasn't loved, but because sometimes circumstances change in ways no one can control. Walking Back Through the Door Felt Like Coming Home The funny thing is, I didn't miss a beat. The second I saw Mo again, my whole body lit up. I remembered her, her smell, the routine, my friends, and exactly where I liked to nap. Everyone laughed because it was like I had never left. Tyke haha that little nugget was excited half barks to see me walk in with her little twerkie dance! I settled right back into rescue life with my easygoing personality, proving once again that I'm one of those dogs who simply enjoys being wherever my people are. Home isn't always a place—sometimes it's the people who never stop rooting for you. Remember Brisket? That's Me in a Different Body If you've followed Freedom Frenchie Rescue for a while, chances are you remember Brisket. Yes I met him he’s a super cool guy we got along great! Everyone wanted Brisket because he was one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs. Calm, affectionate, easy to live with, and happy just being part of the family. Well... that's me plus more. I have that same laid-back personality that makes life together feel effortless. I'm not looking to be the center of attention every second of the day, but I absolutely want to be included. Whether we're watching television, hanging out in the backyard, or simply relaxing after work, I'm happiest when I'm with my people. I don't create chaos—I create companionship, and sometimes that's exactly what a family doesn't realize they've been missing. Attention Is My Favorite Love Language If affection were an Olympic sport, I'd probably bring home the gold medal. There are dogs who work for treats, and then there's me. I'll happily do just about anything for a little praise, a scratch behind my ears, or an invitation onto the couch. I genuinely love making people smile, and one of my favorite ways to do that is by showing off my famous treat-catching skills. Toss one in the air and watch me go to work. I've perfected the art of catching treats mid-flight, and I never pass up an opportunity to impress an audience. Sure, I enjoy the snack afterward, but honestly, I think I enjoy hearing everyone clap and laugh even more. The Kind of Dog That Makes Life Easy I'm a three-year-old low-rider exotic bully built like a little tank with an even bigger heart. I sleep through the night without a problem, I'm completely house trained, and I settle into routines like I've been part of the family forever. I'm not destructive, I don't spend my days looking for trouble, and I don't need constant entertainment to keep me happy. Most evenings you'll find me stretched out on the couch taking a nap while everyone else goes about their day. I'm the kind of dog who quietly becomes your best friend without asking for much in return besides a little love and a comfortable place to lay my head. Sunshine Is Good for the Soul One of my favorite places in the world is the backyard. If the door is open, you'll probably find me outside soaking up the sunshine, sniffing around, or simply laying in the grass enjoying the fresh air. I'm perfectly content entertaining myself outdoors, and my foster sometimes has to come check on me because I've been outside so quietly for so long. If the door happens to close, I don't throw a fit or bark endlessly. I simply sit patiently by the door, waiting for someone to let me back out when the time is right. It's one of the many reasons people say I'm such an easy dog to live with. CEO of the Vacuum Haters Club Now, I do have one confession to make. Loud household appliances and I have reached an agreement... we simply don't like each other. Vacuums, blow dryers, the Insta Pot not even a mop—if it suddenly starts making loud noises and moving around just put me in the other room. I immediately assume it's plotting against all of us. That is not my finest moment I do not get mean or act out to anyone I just bark so loud everyone starts going! It's an easy routine, and now everyone just laughs that I'm the founding member and lifetime president of the Vacuum Haters Club. The Story That Almost Didn't Have a Happy Ending Before any of this, I was sitting in a Los Angeles shelter on the euthanasia list. Freedom Frenchie Rescue wanted me desperately, but because I was in California and they were in Arizona without a shelter partnership, they couldn't legally pull me before my time ran out. Every hour mattered. Then something incredible happened. A family stepped forward and adopted me—not because they were looking for a dog, but because they wanted to save my life. When they picked me up, I was severely underweight and malnourished. Over the next several months they poured everything into helping me heal. They made sure I gained nearly eight healthy pounds, received the medical care I needed, and experienced what it felt like to be truly loved. When it became time for me to enter Freedom Frenchie Rescue, Mo met them in San Diego. I didn't show up empty-handed. I arrived with a backpack full of individually portioned meals, my medications, favorite toys, treats, and the blanket that had comforted me through my journey. That backpack said everything anyone needed to know about the people who had saved me. They loved me enough to let me go so I could find the perfect forever family. Mo still talks about that day because she says those are the people who are "cut from the same cloth." The kind of people who restore your faith in humanity. The Home I've Been Waiting For I'm looking for a family that understands rescue dogs sometimes have chapters before they become part of your story. I don't need perfection. I need consistency. I'd love a calm home where I can enjoy my daily routine, soak up some sunshine in the backyard, perfect my treat-catching performances, and spend my evenings curled up beside the people I love. If you're looking for a dog who is easy to live with, incredibly affectionate, wonderfully goofy, and happiest just being included in everyday life, I think we're already off to a pretty good start. Maybe Forever Just Took the Scenic Route Sometimes life asks us to start over, even when we thought we'd already reached the finish line. Coming back to rescue wasn't part of my story, but neither was surviving a shelter euthanasia list. Life has a funny way of taking unexpected turns, and every one of those turns has led me here. I'm still the same lovable, easygoing, attention-seeking little guy who came back through that front door wagging his tail like he never left. I still believe every couch is better with a dog on it, every afternoon deserves a little sunshine, and every treat should be caught with style. Maybe forever just took the scenic route.
