My story

Cherry is a two-year-old, 12-pound Chihuahua mix with a story of incredible resilience. Before coming to Home Fur Good, Cherry and her sister, Plum, survived as part of a pack of stray Chihuahuas living in the Phoenix mountains. Every day was filled with uncertainty as they searched for food, water, and safe places to hide from predators like coyotes and bobcats. It's nothing short of amazing that these tiny dogs survived such a harsh life. After spending so long depending only on herself, Cherry is understandably wary of people. Trust doesn't come easily when you've never known what kindness feels like. But beneath her timid exterior is a gentle soul that is slowly learning she no longer must face the world alone. With patience and encouragement, Cherry has already begun taking small but meaningful steps toward trusting the people who care for her. Cherry is looking for a calm, understanding home with an adopter who has experience helping shy dogs gain confidence. Someone willing to celebrate the little milestones, a relaxed tail wag, a curious sniff, a quiet moment of connection, will discover just how rewarding it is to watch Cherry's confidence grow. Every day she learns that she is safe is another step toward the happy life she deserves. Cherry's adoption fee is $250 and includes her spay, vaccinations, microchip, and a complimentary wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital.
