My story

Hello, future family! My name is Moe, and I'm hoping that somewhere out there is a person or family looking for a best friend just like me. Before you meet me, I'd like to share a little about my journey. I didn't have the easiest start in life. My brothers and I were living in a van with our owner. Five of us puppies spent our days crowded together in a small kennel that was dirty, cramped, and far from the safe, happy place that puppies deserve. We were underweight, suffering from mange, and had never received veterinary care. Everything changed when a kind woman from a pet transportation company called Pets to Vets arrived to transport us to a boarding facility while our owner was hospitalized. When she saw the condition we were in, she knew we needed help. The veterinarian at the boarding facility treated our mange and gave us our first vaccinations. A few days later, our owner returned and took only our mother, leaving the rest of us behind. Most people would have considered that the end of their responsibility, but the wonderful woman from Pets to Vets opened her heart and her home to all six of us. For the first time in our lives, we got to run in a yard, sleep on clean bedding, enjoy regular meals, and simply be puppies. We learned what kindness felt like. A little while later, some caring people agreed to foster several of us while we waited for permanent homes. They quickly discovered something special about us. Even though we had known hunger for much of our lives, we never fought over food. We happily eat side by side, share bowls, and even switch places during meals. Somehow, despite everything we've been through, we've remained gentle and trusting. And that's exactly how I would describe myself. I'm a sweet, affectionate, easygoing pup who loves attention and enjoys being around people. I have a playful side, but I also appreciate a good nap after a day of adventures. The people caring for me say I'm incredibly well-behaved and always ready to offer a wagging tail and a happy greeting. My mange is healing beautifully, and my fur is growing back more every day. Those lighter patches you might see in my photos aren't permanent marks. They're simply spots where my handsome coat is returning. This weekend I'll receive my second mange treatment, booster vaccinations, and a microchip. I've already been neutered, thanks to a generous low-cost veterinary clinic that helped all of us get ready for adoption. So what am I looking for? I'm looking for someone who will love me not because of where I've been, but because of who I am. Maybe you're looking for a hiking buddy. Maybe you want a couch companion to watch movies with. Maybe your kids have been asking for a dog to grow up with. Or maybe you're simply looking for a loyal friend who will be excited to see you every single day. If you can offer love, patience, and a permanent place in your heart, I promise I'll do my very best to return that love tenfold. The truth is, I don't care how big your house is or whether your yard is perfect. I don't need fancy things. After everything I've experienced, the things that matter most are a warm bed, a full belly, and a family that will never give up on me. My name is Moe for now, but I honestly don't know it very well yet. If you adopt me, you're welcome to give me a brand-new name to go along with my brand-new life. What matters most isn't what you call me. What matters is finding the people I'm meant to call my family. If you'd like to meet me and learn more about my story, please email mike@caaronline.org to schedule an appointment. I've already overcome a difficult beginning. Now I'm hoping for the happy ending every dog deserves. Could you be the happy ending to my story? ❤️ With hope and lots of tail wags, Moe ❤️ PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
