My story

Art was brought to the local city shelter after a call was made about a roaming stray dog. When the rescue team went to find her, she greeted them with the sweetest, gentlest "smile"-they knew right away that they wouldn't need a trap at all! Her friendly personality instantly melted everyone's hearts, and it wasn't long before she was able to be placed into a wonderful foster home. Art is a sweet, gentle, and affectionate girl who loves food, belly rubs, walks, and running around. She is naturally timid and needs a little time to adjust to new people, places, and experiences, but once she feels safe, she becomes a loving companion. She has no separation anxiety, is calm in the home, and cooperates well during grooming. With patience and reassurance, Art blossoms into a loyal and affectionate best friend. Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes. She is initially cautious around adult men and takes a little longer to warm up to them. However, with patience, she bonds deeply; it only took a few weeks for her to become incredibly affectionate and sweet with her foster dad. Good with kids: Yes, she loves children. Good with cats: Generally yes. She is fine with calm cats but may bark and try to chase if a cat suddenly runs out and startles her. Good with dogs: Yes, she enjoys meeting certain dogs and is very eager to greet them, although she can be overly excited and is still learning proper dog manners. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes. Energy level: Medium - calm at home but becomes energetic during walks and loves running in secure, enclosed areas. Barker: No, very quiet. Flight risk: No, she has never attempted to escape or jump fences but extra caution should always be taken in the beginning Food aggressive: No, she has a very gentle temperament and allows people to take away her food or treats without issue. Walks on leash: Yes, she enjoys walks and is walked three times a day for a total of about two hours. She has some leash pulling but is comfortable walking on leash. Rides well in car: Yes, she is comfortable with crate/carrier training and is practicing car rides in her crate. Destructive: No Needs a home with a yard: Preferred Needs a home with another dog: No, she can happily live as the only dog but could also do well with a sibling Can live in an apartment: Yes, she is quiet indoors and would do well in an apartment with regular daily walks and exercise.
