My story

Note: Poshik is in Korea currently, but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or adoption applicaiton, please click here.BackgroundPoshik is a handsome mixed-breed boy who was rescued from the Yongin city shelter in June 2025. After his rescue, he moved to our partner boarding house, where he has been living with other rescue dogs while waiting for his forever family. When Poshik first arrived, he was very quiet and nervous. He stayed in one spot and hardly moved for almost a week. Today, he is a very different boy. Once he gets to know someone, he happily comes over to sit beside them and quietly enjoys their companionship.Personality and SocializationPoshik is a very gentle, sweet, and mild-mannered boy. He has a low energy level and enjoys a peaceful, predictable lifestyle. Although he can be a little shy when meeting new people, once he gets to know them and feels comfortable in his new environment, his affectionate personality begins to shine. When Poshik is unsure, he doesn’t react with fear or defensiveness. Instead, he quietly sits in a corner like a little statue, patiently observing his surroundings until he feels safe. Even during this adjustment period, he remains wonderfully calm and allows people to gently pet or pick him up without any resistance. Once he begins to trust you, his affectionate personality starts to shine. These days, he has become much more confident and happily comes over when his name is called.Poshik gets along very well with other dogs. His gentle personality allows him to befriend just about everyone, and he especially enjoys the company of calm, friendly dogs. He has not yet been tested with cats or young children. However, based on his gentle and easygoing temperament, we believe he would likely do well with slow, proper introductions.BehavioursPoshik is a very easy dog to live with. He rarely, if ever, barks or complains. He is very submissive, quiet, and simply needs a little time to feel familiar and comfortable in a new environment. He prefers to do his business outdoors and enjoys going for walks. He rides well in the car, behaves beautifully during veterinary visits and bath time, and walks nicely on leash. He has never shown any destructive behaviours and is expected to do well when left alone for reasonable periods. He is content to quietly relax by himself and has the kind of calm, independent personality that makes him a wonderful companion. Overall, Poshik is a low-maintenance dog who asks for very little beyond kindness, patience, and companionship.Health and DietPoshik is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and receives regular parasite prevention. After his rescue, Poshik was treated for heartworm disease and Anaplasmosis. He completed both treatments, made a full recovery, and is now healthy and ready for his forever home. He has no known allergies and enjoys eating dry kibble twice a day.Ideal HomePoshik would thrive in a calm, loving home where he can continue building his confidence at his own pace. Someone who works from home, is retired, or simply enjoys a quieter lifestyle would be an ideal match for this gentle boy.He would be happiest with another calm, friendly dog who can help him feel even more secure. Because he is naturally so gentle and undemanding, Poshik would also make a wonderful companion for many different family types, including first-time dog owners. If you’re looking for a gentle, sweet, quiet, and low-maintenance companion with a kind heart and a peaceful soul, Poshik may be the perfect match. He won’t ask for much, but he’ll quietly fill your home with love, warmth, and unwavering companionship for years to come.Note: Poshik is in Korea currently, but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Poshik, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
