My story

If you're looking for a sweet, gentle companion with just the right mix of playful and cuddly, Sable might be your perfect match! Just under a year old, Sable came to us as an unclaimed stray. While she's listed as a Boxer/Shepherd mix, we suspect there's a smaller breed somewhere in her family tree. After all, this adorable girl weighs in at under 20 pounds! She was initially thought to be a young puppy, but after her veterinary assessment, she was estimated to be around 11 to 12 months old. Sable is a medium-energy girl who enjoys life's simple pleasures. She loves leisurely walks where she can take her time sniffing every interesting scent along the way, and she's wonderfully polite on leash, rarely pulling. Like any young dog, she'll benefit from continued obedience training and will thrive with daily exercise and mental enrichment to keep her happy and engaged. When meeting new people, Sable can be a little shy at first. Give her a few treats, a little patience, and a kind approach, and you'll quickly discover the affectionate, loving dog hiding beneath that cautious exterior. Once she trusts you, she's all about cuddles and at her compact size, she's the perfect snuggle buddy! One thing that truly brings Sable out of her shell is the company of other dogs. Around canine friends, her confidence blossoms, and she becomes playful, social, and full of happy energy. Because of this, we believe she'd do best in a home with another friendly, well-matched dog who can help show her the ropes and continue building her confidence. Sable is a calm, gentle soul with so much love to give. She's looking for a patient family who will give her the time she needs to settle in and discover that the world can be a safe and happy place. In return, she'll reward you with unwavering loyalty, quiet companionship, and plenty of cozy cuddle sessions. If you're ready to help a deserving young dog blossom into the devoted companion she's meant to be, Sable can't wait to meet you. Please complete an adoption request: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Sable has an appointment to be spayed on July 15th. She will be ready to go to her forever home after this surgery. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sable, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
