My story

Hi there! My name is Gaspachio , and I'm on the hunt for something every dog dreams about—a loving forever home . I can't tell you much about where I came from because, honestly, I don't know myself. I was picked up as a stray by Animal Control in Yuma, and after nobody came looking for me, they arranged for me to come stay with the wonderful people at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They've taken great care of me while I wait for the next chapter of my life to begin. Hopefully, that chapter starts with you! The humans here think I'm about one year old, which sounds about right. I'm still a young guy with plenty of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for life. When I first arrived, I was a little shy and unsure of everything around me. Being a stray can be a confusing experience, after all. But once I learned that the people here were kind and that I was safe, I really started to come out of my shell. Now? Well, let's just say I'm a pretty friendly fellow. Once I get to know you, I love being around my people. I'll gladly accept pets, attention, and companionship whenever they're available. If you're looking for a loyal dog who forms strong bonds with his family, I might be exactly what you've been searching for. As for what kind of dog I am, your guess is probably as good as mine. The rescue folks think I may be some sort of Border Collie and Terrier mix. I have the size and coloring of a Border Collie, but my coat is definitely on the wiry side like a Terrier. One thing everyone notices right away is my feet—they're huge! Seriously, they're much bigger than you'd expect for a dog my size. I've got the kind of paws that look like they were built for splashing around in water rather than herding sheep all day. Speaking of water, I don't mind it one bit. On hot Arizona days you'll often find me standing in the pool soaking my feet, or finding a nice muddy spot to lie down and cool off. Some dogs try to stay spotless. I am not one of those dogs. A little mud just adds character! I currently share my kennel with several smaller dogs, and we get along just fine. In fact, they often try to boss me around, even though they're only about half my size. I usually just let them have their fun and go about my day. The rescue staff says I'm very good with my canine roommates and that I have a gentle personality around smaller dogs. One thing I need to be honest about is that nobody knows how I feel about cats or very young children. Since there aren't any here at the rescue, there hasn't been an opportunity to test that. Any introductions to cats or small kids would need to be done carefully and thoughtfully. The good news is that I'm completely ready to go home. I've been neutered, I'm current on all my vaccinations, and I've been microchipped. All I need now is a family to love and a place to call my own. If you're looking for a handsome young dog with a sweet personality, a goofy set of giant feet, and plenty of love to give, I hope you'll come meet me. Maybe we're exactly what each other has been waiting for. To schedule an appointment to meet me, please email mike@caaronline.org. I can't wait to meet you. Love, Gaspachio   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
