My story

Note: Currently Sophia is in Korea, but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or to submit an adoption application, please click here.BackgroundSophia and her sister, Lauren, lived in a small village just down the road from the shelter. They were kept in a small cage with only human food scraps to eat and no access to clean water. It took several visits to convince their owner to surrender them, but thankfully he eventually agreed.Since then, Sophia and Lauren have been living at our partner boarding house, where they enjoy the company of many other dogs while they wait for their forever families.Personality and SocializationSophia is a sweet, gentle girl with a loving heart. She has an easygoing personality and enjoys being close to people. She is affectionate and loves attention, happily accepting pets and cuddles from anyone she meets. She is friendly with both men and women and has a soft, trusting nature that makes her a joy to be around. She gets along very well with other dogs and especially enjoys spending time with gentle dogs around her own age. Sophia has a medium energy level, making her a wonderful companion for families looking for a dog who enjoys both playtime and relaxing by your side. Her experience with cats is unknown.BehavioursSophia is a well mannered young dog who has already developed many great habits. She walks nicely on leash, rides comfortably in the car, and stays calm during veterinary visits and baths. She prefers to do her business outdoors, but she will use indoor pee pads when needed. Like many young dogs, she enjoys chewing on toys, which helps keep her entertained.Health and DietSophia has been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and is up to date on her vaccinations. She receives monthly parasite prevention and has not shown any signs of allergies. She eats kibble twice a day.Ideal HomeKnowing Sophia’s sweet and gentle personality, she will make a wonderful companion. Her ideal family is someone who works from home or spends plenty of time at home, as she loves being close to her people. She would also be happy in a home with another friendly dog to keep her company.Sophia had a difficult life before she was rescued, but she has never let that take away her gentle spirit. She does not ask for much, only a loving family to spend her days with and someone to share her love. Whoever adopts this sweet girl will be very lucky.Note: Currently Sophia is in Korea, but will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or to submit an adoption application, please click here.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sophia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
