Hello there! My name is Kaiser , and if you've been searching for a big, handsome German Shepherd to share your life with, I just might be the dog you're looking for. Let's get the first thing out of the way—I'm a big boy. Right now, I weigh a little over 90 pounds, but the nice people caring for me think I'm still a bit underweight. Once I'm back to my ideal weight, I'll likely be well over 100 pounds. That's a lot of German Shepherd! Most male shepherds are much smaller than I am, so if you've always dreamed of having a large, impressive-looking dog at your side, I'm ready to fill that role. Unfortunately, my story before arriving here is a mystery. I was found as a stray and brought in by Animal Control, so nobody knows exactly where I came from or what my life was like before. While I can't tell you about my past, I can tell you about the dog I am today. Despite everything I've been through, I've shown myself to be a pretty easygoing guy. I'm settling into shelter life and learning that people can be kind. I enjoy attention and affection, but I'm not overly demanding about it. In fact, I've been known to sit politely when I want some extra pets or a little one-on-one time. The staff thinks I may know a few commands, although they haven't had a chance to test me extensively yet. I've also been working on my leash manners. For a dog my size, I do pretty well on leash and enjoy getting out for walks and stretching my long legs. Like any shepherd, I'll probably benefit from continued training and structure in my new home, but I seem eager to learn and willing to work with my people. One of my favorite things? Water! These hot summer days can be tough on a dog with a thick coat, so I love having a pool available. You'll often find me standing happily in my pool, soaking my paws and cooling off while I relax and watch the world go by. If you have a yard where I can splash around, I certainly wouldn't complain! As for other dogs, we're still getting to know each other. When I first arrived, I reacted to some dogs through the fence, but I was also frightened, stressed, and adjusting to an unfamiliar environment. Once I was able to spend time in the exercise yard where I could move around freely and didn't feel confined, I mostly ignored the other dogs nearby. Because of that, the shelter hasn't made any final decisions about how I feel regarding canine companions, but they believe more evaluation would be helpful. The good news is that I've already had all the important medical care taken care of. I'm neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. That microchip will help make sure I never get lost and disappear again. All I need now is a family of my own. What I'm really hoping for is a home where I can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the loyal companion I want to be. German Shepherds are known for forming strong bonds with their families, and I can't wait to find someone who will give me the chance to do exactly that. If you have room in your heart—and on your couch—for a giant shepherd with a sweet personality and a lot of potential, I'd love to meet you. Interested in meeting me? Please email mike@caaronline.org to schedule an appointment and come spend some time with me. I may have arrived as a stray with an unknown past, but I'm hoping my future includes a forever family. Maybe that family is yours. Love, Kaiser PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt.
