My story

Sophie Catahoula Leopard Dog mix Medium Adult Female   Are you looking for an adventure buddy?  Sophie just might be the dog for you!  She's a 60 pound, 1 year old, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who is housetrained and will be spayed and up to date on her vetting prior to adoption.  Sadly, her owner is in crisis and is no longer able to care for her.   Sophie has experience with similar sized and smaller dogs and has been good with both.  She has also lived with a cat and enjoyed snuggling with the cat.  We do not know how she would do in a home with children but she is an active, enthusiastic gal and might knock smaller children over unintentionally.  She likes to be close to her humans and would love to sleep in bed with her new family.     She has a big bark she isn't afraid to use but she is also friendly with visitors and excited to welcome them into the home.     Sophie may whimper for a period of time when left alone and is used to being left alone for an hour or two at a time.  Her ideal home would be home more often than not or able to take her with them when they go out to work or play.   She has a short, low maintenance coat that is easy to care for.  She would love to get out and about on walks but does pull and will need some help with learning loose leash walking and how to calmly meet other dogs.  Sophie also loves car rides and would gladly be your co-pilot on drives.   Does Sophie sound like your next best friend?  Please complete the Adoption Application on our website to be considered as her new bestie.    June 12, 2026, 8:06 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sophie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
