My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.PAPAYA hails from the Northern community of Kasabonica and came south with his 3 siblings, Apricot, Clementine and Tangerine to find his forever home. He’s had his 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his Vet. We have no information on either parent so the breeds we have him listed as and the size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess. Seeing as he comes from a community with lots of stray dogs he no doubt has many different breeds in him that are not as notable as well. This “Orange” Litter is very chill and relaxed and his foster says they’re a very quiet litter as well. He really loves to socialize with people and will excitedly run up to them with his tail wagging to greet them. He loves to be picked up and snuggled into you. With his happy personality and loving nature he’s ready to find his forever home where he can continue to thrive and grow. PAPAYA is a quiet, playful puppy who’s full of curiosity and adventure. He happily plays with his siblings and is good at sharing toys with them. He’s just started to chase a ball around and loves the spikey type to chase around and chew on. This handsome boy loves to spend time outside playing in his fenced-in yard. When his playtime is over he’s all about the cuddles and he’ll happily curl up in your lap for some quality nap time. PAPAYA has just started with crate training and is picking up on that quickly as he’s a very smart boy. He’s only just started going out for his bathroom breaks and he’s just starting to realize that’s the place to go potty. Inside the home he goes on newspaper and he also has a blanket that he’ll go on as well. He’s just started to go on walks but he’s already getting to know when it’s time to go out and he gets excited about going on his walk. Due to teething, he’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy bones and toys to satisfy that urge to chew on these to keep him busy so he won’t chew on anything that he shouldn’t. He really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. He’s  starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as to “sit” for his meals and to take treats “gentle.” PAPAYA’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them as well. He really loves to go in a vehicle and will just rest in his crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. He’s socialized with other dogs as there’s 2 older puppies in his foster home and he loves to be around them. He would suit a home with a dog but he can also be an only dog provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time. He does have a cat in the home but there’s no real interaction with them at this stage. However, if there’s one in the home we recommend the same as with a dog in the home and that is a slow, monitored introduction between them while the puppy is held on a leash. He needs a fenced-in yard so he can run around and play safely. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be gentle, loving and caring towards animals. PAPAYA, like all puppies is cute, playful and fun but he’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We need his adopter to commit to signing him up for puppy training/obedience classes so he can be the best well behaved puppy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his adopter must be in agreement to have his neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) It will either be at our vet’s office or at the Barrie SPCA. You do have the option to use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it at the SPCA. However, his neuter will still have to be performed in the above timeframe. For the reimbursement we will need a copy of the surgery procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If PAPAYA sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him. It should be noted that puppies personalities can change daily/weekly as their little brains develop. We try to keep our puppy postings as up-to-date as possible but due to their development, it’s not always possible to note 100% accurate behavioural information. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 16, 2026, 8:25 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt PAPAYA, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
