My story

Yuels story began in a place no dog should have to call homea crowded city shelter in Gongju, where time was always running out. At just six months old, Yuel found herself on the euthanasia list, her future hanging by a thread she couldnt understand. But even before that moment, her young life had already been shaped by hardship. She had entered the shelter alongside her mother and siblings. Her mother, a gentle dog who had already endured so much, had lost one of her legs after being caught in a trap. For Yuel and her siblings, the world had never felt entirely safe. People were unfamiliar, and trust did not come easily. A month before Yuels scheduled euthanasia, rescuers from DoReMi had saved her mother. Then came the shocking newsher puppies would be next. Without hesitation, the rescue returned and brought all three siblings, including Yuel, to safety. It was a turning point that would quietly change everything. At first, Yuel was unsure. The world outside the shelter was new, and she approached it with cautious eyes and a hesitant heart. But unlike fear that lingers, Yuels uncertainty was something softersomething that could be gently unwound with patience and kindness. Day by day, she began to change. In the safety of the shelter, surrounded by familiar faces and steady care, Yuel slowly discovered what it meant to feel secure. She learned that hands could offer comfort, not harm. That voices could soothe instead of startle. That people could be trusted. And when that realization took root, Yuels true self began to shine. She became affectionate, often choosing to stay close to her humans, following them quietly like a little shadow. Her gentle nature and bright spirit made her a joy to be around. Though she might still pause when faced with something new, she no longer retreats. Instead, she gathers her courage, takes a moment, and then steps forwardwith curiosity, with trust. Yuel doesnt need perfection. She doesnt need a fast-paced life or constant excitement. What she longs for is simple but profound: a home where she can feel safe, loved, and close to her people. A place where she can continue to grow at her own pace, with gentle encouragement guiding her along the way. She gets along well with other dogs, but her heart belongs to people. Whether in a home with another calm companion or as the center of someones world, Yuel will thrive where love is steady and patient. Yuels journey is one of quiet resilience. From fear to trust, from uncertainty to connectionshe has already come so far. Now, she is ready for the final chapter of her story. A forever home. And for the person who welcomes her in, Yuel wont just be a rescue dog. Shell be a loyal companion, a gentle soul, and a daily reminder of how love, given time, can transform everything. Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes Good with kids: Yes older kids recommended as her interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown House trained: Yes, outdoor potty trained. She can also use pee pads indoors. Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Medium Can be handled/touched: Yes, she allows touching, being held, and general handling Barker: No, she does not bark much Flight risk: No, but she still needs to be managed carefully when her environment changes. She may feel a little overwhelmed in a new environment at first, so she should be kept secure during the adjustment period. Food aggressive: No Current food: Yuel currently eats dry kibble and home-cooked food. Her kibble is duck-based, and her home-cooked food is mainly chicken breast with vegetables such as cabbage. Walks on leash: Yes, she walks on leash Leash reactive to people or dogs: No, she is not reactive. When she sees people or other dogs during walks, she usually just stands still and watches them. Rides well in car: Yes, she rides in the car fairly well, but she may get carsick if the ride is too long - this should subside with practice Destructive: No major destructive behavior has been observed. She may tear up pee pads if she sees them, but she stops when corrected. Needs a home with a yard: Preferred - A home with a yard would be ideal. However, if there is no yard, she will need at least two walks a day. Needs a home with another dog: No, Yuel does not necessarily need another dog in the home. She gets along well with other dogs, but she is more people-oriented and especially likes to follow her main caregiver around. Can live in an apartment: Yes, as long as she gets regular walks every day Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
