My story

*Fostered in St. Catharines Ontario *Apply at rebeldogrescue.com*APPLY TO FOSTER TO ADOPTTroy came to rescue as  an anxious dog trying to find peace and comfort in this scary world.  He has quickly  opened up and once he feels safe is a total love bug! He is thriving in his foster home and soaks up all the love and attention he can get! Troy was found running loose out in the county with another Pug mix when a citizen brought them to us. The sibling has since been adopted and Troy has been left all alone. He would thrive in a home that could offer a calm space to decompress in a compassionate understanding of his need to feel safe before he opens up. We are hopeful that Troy's people find him and give him the life he deserves. *See social media for videos Foster update Troy is a lovable little guy who is ready to find his forever family! This handsome boy has settled in beautifully and shows more of his sweet personality every day.  The first few days he was nervous and jumpy, but once he knew he was safe his personality began to show.    He absolutely loves people and greets everyone he meets like a friend. If you’re looking for a dog who enjoys affection, Troy is your guy—he’s always happy to hand out kisses and soak up attention.Troy is fully house-trained and reliably does his business as soon as he goes outside. He has had no accidents 👍. He’s also doing well with crate training. While he lets out a little whine at first, he settles quickly, especially if there are a few treats waiting for him. Troy is very food-motivated🦴He has plenty of energy and loves to play, bounce around, and explore. Once he’s had a chance to burn off some excitement, he relaxes into a well-mannered and affectionate companion. He’s also getting along great with his foster family’s two small dogs.Troy loves his meals, enjoys his treats, and most of all, he loves being with his people.Name: TroyBreed: Pug mixAge: ~2 yearsWeight: ~18lbSex: Male, neutered Colour: TanMedical: Troy sustained bruising / bleeding around his prepuce and scrotum immediately following neuter - no current concerns. Good with men: yesGood with women: yesGood with kids: Unknown - suggest 12+ dog savvy Has this dog ever bitten or attempted to bite? No, Troy has never attempted to bite as his first reaction is generally to try and get away from new people. People should allow him to approach them first before attempting to force engagement. When the dog meets new people he has been very excited and friendly   Good with dogs: Yes - happy to coexist. Fostered with multiple dogs and does well. What type(s) of dogs does this dog prefer/be best with? Confident/ easy going as he sometime gets overly excited.Good with Cats: Presumed to be good with cats based on cat-test. We walked Troy on a leash into our cat room with all the cats in their kennels. Troy cautiously approached the cats and showed a healthy respect of them. All new cat introductions should be done slowly and with care - but our initial test led us to believe that he may be able to coexist happily with a cat.Crate training: Enters with treats and settles aftera short period of whining. He does well in the crate generally. House training: yesResource Guarding: None seenWalks on a leash: Generally does wellEnergy level: Medium Areas to work on: Fearful of loud noisesWhat type of environments would NOT be suitable for the dog? Potentially a busy city area as he has a lot of fears he needs to work on Any noted separation anxiety? None seen Barker: Average

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Troy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
