My story

Hi, I’m Golden Girl! I’m a 1-year-old, 52 lb, Golden Retriever/Collie mix and the proud mama of the Sitcom litter. Before coming to ATR, I spent my life fending for myself, so many things that pet dogs take for granted (walking on a leash, going through doorways, and living indoors) are still brand new to me, but I'm eager to learn! I’m a gentle, independent girl who prefers companionship over cuddles. I may not be the type to climb into your lap right away, but I do enjoy being near my people and am very motivated by treats, which helps me learn that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. I’m looking for a patient family that will let me move at my own pace and celebrate the small victories along the way. A dog friend would be a huge plus for me, as I love other dogs and gain confidence from them. My play style is sweet and dainty, and I especially enjoy games of chase with my canine pals. If you’re willing to give me the time and understanding I need, I promise that watching me grow, trust, and discover the joys of being a beloved family dog will be one of the most rewarding journeys you’ll ever take.
