Coal

My story

Coal is a sweet 2½–3-year-old Lab mix currently in the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds, where he’s getting the support and patience he needs to continue building confidence and learning that the world can be a safe place. This handsome boy is making great progress while working through some reactivity on walks, and he’s showing that with guidance, structure, and trust, he’s capable of continuing to grow and thrive. Coal currently lives successfully with another dog, but he is dog selective and requires slow, thoughtful introductions in a controlled environment to help set him up for positive interactions. Coal’s compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown as we continue learning more about him. What we do know is that he’s a sensitive, deserving dog who benefits from calm leadership and people willing to meet him where he is. Dogs like Coal remind us that growth takes time, and every small victory matters. With the right home that is patient, understanding, and committed to continuing his progress, Coal has the potential to become an incredibly loyal and rewarding companion.
