My story

Meet Misty — your future shadow, snuggle bug, and adventure buddy all in one. Misty is an incredibly sweet, people-loving girl whose favorite place in the world is right in your arms (or at least trying to be!). She’s a wiggly ball of happiness, always ready to shower her humans with affection. Wherever you go, Misty wants to be right by your side—she’s very handler-focused and thrives on connection. She walks nicely on leash, settles quietly in her crate, and already has a gentle, responsive nature. While she enjoys the company of other dogs with proper introductions, her heart truly belongs to her people. Whether you’re heading out for a walk or relaxing on the couch, Misty is all in. She would do best in an active home that can match her energy and give her the attention she loves. She could do well with other dogs or as your one-and-only, and she’d be a great fit for families with older kids who can handle her enthusiastic wiggles. Misty is still learning a few things: She can be a little protective of her food around other dogs, so mealtime management is important. She also has no concept of personal space—expect a full-on lap dog experience! If another dog is too pushy, she may correct them, but she responds well to verbal guidance. She’s not reactive on leash and usually keeps to herself unless she finds a dog she really likes. She’s also got a few adorable quirks—she might scratch at the door if she’s ready to come inside (she prefers quick potty breaks and back to her people!), and new environments can make her a bit nervous at first. But underneath it all, she’s soft, gentle, and eager to please. Misty respects fencing, is polite with people around her food, and is happily working on building confidence in new situations. She graduated from our PAWs to Prison training program, where trainers said she showed the greatest progress of any dog in the program EVER! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, slightly clingy (in the best way) companion who will love you with her whole heart—Misty is your girl.June 24, 2026, 7:01 pm
