My story

Smart, Observant & ActiveElmer is a young, inquisitive and active dog. The kind of dog who - with patience and guidance - is destined to shine even more than he already does! BIO: - Malinois mix, 1.5 years, Male (neutered)- Medium-sized (55 lb), Medium-energy- Elmer has grown up in the safety of a rescue organization in Antigua after his Mother was taken in- Elmer is house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinationsABOUT ELMER: - Elmer enjoys having a job to do, whether it’s exploring the backyard, going for walks or engaging in enrichment games, he’s always up for using his smarts- He’s also up for just being independent or chilling beside you - sometimes he thinks he’s a lap dog! Mostly he loves his pets and will lean in for more- Elmer would benefit from training on leash manners, he already checks in with his handler often on a walk. He is strong and will pull when something grabs his attention.- As a young dog, naturally he is still a little bit shy in unfamiliar surroundings- Elmer loves a car ride- Given his love of people, he is still learning not to ‘hug’ (a.k.a. jump up) in excitement when greeting youELMER’S IDEAL HOME:- Elmer enjoys spending time outdoors and would benefit from a household that will give him regular walks and plenty of time outside or in the backyard - He needs a family that will give him time to settle at his own pace for his confidence to grow- Elmer has not been vocal in the shelter so may good in a shared wall situation - He would do better with older children until he learns not to jump, positive reinforcement training will help with thisElmer is searching for his forever home and yours just might be the home that he is looking for!If you have any questions about Elmer contact his Adoption Coordinator at: jenc.ehs@gmail.com

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Elmer, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
