My story

Breed: German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix Age: 12 years (born Dec.â€䑴,â€) Weight: 22 kg Gender: Female (spayed) Location: Ontario Reason for Intake: Owner is currently homeless; Maddie is being safely boarded.  Health & Care Vetting: Up to date; next vaccines due Jan†Medical: Has environmental/food allergies managed through a hydrolyzed protein diet (Royal Canin) and Cytopoint injections Dental: Some teeth removed Spayed: Yes  Behaviour & Temperament Energy Level: Medium — enjoys walks and playtime but also loves to relax Housetrained: Fully Crate Trained: Yes (used during her early years and still sees it as a safe place) Leash Skills: Excellent manners; walks calmly and politely Commands Known: Sit, come, stay, drop it, down  Sociability Good with Dogs: Yes — gets along with dogs of all sizes; lives peacefully with multiple dogs and enjoys the dog park Good with Cats: Curious but unsettled; best in a cat‑free home Good with Kids: Yes — gentle and respectful; tends to ignore or quietly move away from very energetic children Good with Strangers: Friendly greeter; may bark initially but warms up quickly  Personality A truly sweet, calm, and affectionate girl who’s deeply loved by her previous owner. Maddie is friendly, gentle, and easygoing. She enjoys being brushed, riding in the car, and spending quiet time with her people. She doesn’t bark excessively, has no history of destruction or aggression, and is comfortable being left alone for reasonable periods. Fears: Loud noises like fireworks or thunderstorms.  Ideal Home Maddie would thrive in a relaxed home where she can be part of a family’s daily life — ideally with access to gentle walks and a cozy resting spot. She’d fit beautifully with older adults, a calm household, or another friendly dog companion.  April 19, 2026, 8:45 am
