My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.GALAXY hails from a Southern community in Ontario and came into the rescue with his 3 siblings, Milky Bar, Bournville and Dairy Milk. They came into Rescue on the Easter weekend so they received the litter name of the  “Chocolates’s” and this little guy is now looking for his forever home. He’s had his 2 sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, “Interceptor Plus” dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We do have a picture of his mum and she looks like a Border Collie mix but we have no info on dad. Seeing as he comes from a community with lots of strays he no doubt has many different breeds in him and they could additionally include Boxer, black Lab and even Husky. We really have no idea on the size he’ll grow to be so the size we have in this post is just a guess. He’s a very unique looking little guy and wherever he’s taken people ask “what breed is he” and the reply is “what does he look like to you?” That’s kind of where some of those breeds listed came from too. He’s very much a snuggle bunny and loves to be close to his people and nap in their lap. He really loves to socialize with people and run up to them with his tail just a wagging to greet them. He loves to play hard and run around with his toys and then he’ll just crash and take a nice long nap. He’s super smart and picks up things so quickly and is always looking to  GALAXY is crate trained and it took all of two nights to have him fully trained in one as he’s a very smart boy. He’ll sleep quietly in it at night but in the day he does fuss going in but will eventually settle down and will take a nap in there. House training is still a work in progress as he’s only just started to learn to go to the bathroom outside but he is very good at doing his Poop outside now and will usually go after each of his 3 meals a day. He’s only had short walks on his property so far and like all puppies, he will excited run ahead of you and want to pull ahead of you also. He’s walked while wearing a harness that’s attached to his collar for safety and to stop any pulling around his neck. Due to teething, he’s at a chewing stage and needs lots of chewy toys to satisfy that urge not to chew on anything that he shouldn’t. He really loves to chew on a Nyla bone to keep those little teeth busy too. He’s starting to learn a couple of basic commands already such as “sit” for his meals and treats  and to take them “gentle.” GALAXY’s ideal family would be an active one who loves the outdoors, going on hikes, walks and will take him on adventures with them. He really loves to go in a vehicle and will just snuggle into his blanket that’s in his crate and quietly enjoy being driven around. It should be noted that he seems to be a very dominant boy and not all dogs have taken well to him behaving like that. He’s moved from 2 different foster homes due to an adult dog in each home not happy to share their space with him or put up with his dominant behaviour. Being so young he doesn’t seem to pick up when they try to correct him and he just keeps right on being annoying to them. Saying that, he’s now in a foster home with 3 dogs and they’re all doing great and playing just fine together with no issues at all. There is a picture posted of him with a Golden Retriever and they got along really well in his one foster home too but one of the others just didn’t want anything to do with him. So a dog in his new home should be on the dominant side just like him and be able to firmly keep him from becoming too pushy. He has a cat in his foster home and all he’ll do is stare at her and the cat isn’t interested in engaging with him at this stage. If there’s a cat in his new home then it should be a dog savvy one and a slow, monitored introduction should be made between them. He loves to run around and play outside where he’ll chase a ball around and run with a toy in his mouth so he does require a fenced in yard. He was at one point fostered with a child and he very much enjoyed his playtime with her but children should be aged 6 and up plus be gentle, kind and loving towards animals.  GALAXY, like all puppies is a cute, playful and fun puppy but he’ll also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. In his case, we 100% need his adopter to take him to puppy/obedience training to help him become well socialized with other dogs and to become a good, well mannered puppy. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and his potential adopter must be in agreement to have his neuter performed by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (which ever comes first.) It will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. However his neuter will still have to be performed in the above timeframe for the reimbursement and we’ll need a copy of the procedure invoice and an updated photo of him (preferably in a cone after the surgery.) The photo will be put on our fb page along with other animals that were spay/neutered that same week. If GALAXY sounds like he’d suit your home and lifestyle plus you have the experience for him then please submit an adoption application to meet him.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2026, 4:31 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt GALAXY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
