My story

šŸ’› Meet Peter — A Gentle Heart Ready for a Fresh Start Peter is 4 -5 years old, 50 pound, beautifully built English Pointer with a strikingly athletic, well-proportioned body and an unmistakable quiet elegance in the way he carries himself. He was found abandoned, already neutered, with an unregistered microchip—a detail that leaves his past unclear, but makes his present all the more important. What stands out most about Peter isn’t just how handsome he is—it’s how gentle he remains despite what he’s been through. In day-to-day life, Peter is a remarkably sweet, sensitive soul who simply needs a little time to feel safe in new situations. 🌿 Shy at First, Loving for Life Peter can be shy and hesitant around strangers, but he is never aggressive—he doesn’t react with fear or force; he just pauses, watches, and waits until he feels secure. And then something wonderful happens: once he trusts his caregiver, Peter’s affectionate nature begins to shine. His love is the kind that feels deeply meaningful—quiet, steady, and earned through patience and kindness. 🐾 A Dog Who Knows How to Walk Beside You Peter walks well on a leash and moves with ease, showing growing curiosity about the world around him. That kind of comfort and good leash manners often suggests a dog may have experienced home life and guidance at some point—because Peter carries himself like a dog who remembers what it feels like to be someone’s companion. Now he’s simply waiting for the chance to have that again—this time, forever. 🐶 Happy with Canine Friends Peter is truly a ā€œdog’s dog.ā€ He becomes visibly more confident and happy in the presence of other dogs, and his personality brightens when he they are nearby. If you already have a friendly dog at home, Peter may find that especially comforting as he continues building confidence. 🐱 Cats: Gentle Curiosity, Ongoing Assessment With cats, Peter is cautious and slightly hesitant rather than reactive. šŸ” The Home Peter Dreams Of Peter is a sensitive, beautiful dog looking for a patient family—one that will allow him to settle in at his own pace and reward him with calm reassurance and consistent love. He doesn’t need perfection. He needs understanding: a home that recognizes how brave it is for a dog to start over—and how powerful it can be to watch trust return, day by day. Homes must be in Ontario and should be within 3 hours of Toronto. Preference will be given to dog experienced families with a fence yard and time to spend with Peter. Peter has already shown incredible resilience and a willingness to adapt. Now he deserves the chance to put his past behind him and step into a life where he can finally feel like he belongs. If you would like to meet Peter and learn more about him and our foster to adopt program, please email our rescue at c4ptoronto@gmail.com.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Peter, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
