My story

Sandy is a 2-year-old Foxhound weighing about 45 pounds, and she’s just about ready to fill out to her perfect, healthy weight. With her soulful eyes and gentle spirit, she has a way of quietly asking for love—and once you give it, she soaks it right up.This sweet girl is a true lover at heart. She adores attention and will gently place her paws on you just to be a little closer. Sandy is incredibly soft, both in her fur and her personality, and she’s happiest when she’s near her people. She’ll happily follow you from room to room, keeping you company and quickly becoming your most loyal companion.Sandy is well-mannered and easy to live with. She’s house and crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and enjoys getting out for adventures just as much as she enjoys relaxing at home. She’s not high-energy, but she does have her playful moments—especially when she’s running around the yard with a toy in her mouth or enjoying a little zoomie session. She gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and personalities. Sandy is not dominant at all and naturally falls into place in a pack. She’s currently fostered with both small and large dogs and does wonderfully. While she’d love a canine companion to run around with, she’s also very respectful of dogs who prefer their space. She has tested well with cats.Sandy is amazing with kids of all ages and is truly a rockstar at adoption events—everyone who meets her can’t help but stop to pet her. She greets new people with gentle affection, often offering her paw as if to say hello. As a typical hound, Sandy loves to follow her nose, so a secure 6-foot fence or a family committed to regular leash walks would be ideal. She also enjoys the simple things, like gazing out the window and watching the world go by with quiet curiosity.Sandy came from a tough start—she was once very skinny and scared in the shelter—but she has blossomed into a loving, trusting dog in foster care. She does have a sensitive side and will need a patient family willing to give her time to fully settle in. But once she bonds with you, she will never leave your side—or your heart. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, and devoted best friend, Sandy is your girl.
