Shelby is a bright and spirited young dog! He’s full of energy and always ready to turn an ordinary day into something exciting. whether that’s a lively walk or simply exploring the world one sniff at a time. Shelby approaches life with enthusiasm and joy, but he can also be a bit unsure when things are new or unfamiliar. Because of this, he’s looking for a patient and understanding family who will give him the time he needs to feel comfortable and confident. With consistency, Shelby begins to show his true personality: sweet and intelligent. He would thrive in an active home that can match his energy while also providing reassurance and support as he continues to grow. In return, Shelby will offer loyal companionship and plenty of joyful moments along the way.If you’re looking for a loving and energetic pup to share life with, Shelby may just be your new best friend! IN-SHELTER NOTES & IDEAL HOMESIZE:33 lbsHOME TYPE:House or Townhouse- Shelby is a sensitive boy who can be a bit nervous and mildly sound sensitive, so he would not be suited to a loud, busy apartment setting with lots of shared spaces. He has also shown some general and separation anxiety and may be vocal at times. Because of this, he will need a home where someone has plenty of time to help him slowly build confidence and become more comfortable being alone, at a pace that feels right for him.CHILDREN:Yes- Mid aged or older children (young children would not be a good fit) with previous dog experience potentially compatible. CATS & SMALL ANIMALS:Yes- cats potentially compatible with slow proper introduction.OTHER DOGS:Yes- Dogs potentially compatibleACTIVITY/ENERGY LEVEL:High; will need a lot of daily exercise, enrichment and mental stimulation.HUMAN COMPATIBILTY:Working/herding breed research is required prior to adoption and breed experience is an asset. Shelby can be an escape artist, so an adopter that is able to keep an eye on him and a secure home would be a must. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/NEEDS:At least two in-person training sessions to work on socialization, basic training, manners, sound desensitization, separation/general anxiety and reactivity. HUMAN SOCIAL IN SHELTER:Very human social once comfortable. Shelby is a very sweet and energetic and loves people! He learns quickly, especially when treats are involved.
