My story

***REMINDER:  Please read the bio requirements and only fill in the application if you can meet ALL requirements. Due to the number of applications being received for each dog, we are only able to contact the applicants who have met ALL the listed Requirements*** Name/Tag#: April 4424 Age: 5 years old Sex/Altered: Female/ Spayed Weight: 14 lbs Breed: Shih Tzu Foster Home Location:  OTTAWA, ON Adoption Fee: $750.00 Temperament: Happy, goofy, smart Activity/Energy Level: High Up to date on Shots: Y,es, plus dental done Housebroken: she is doing exceptionally well, very rare accidents Crate Trained: No Ok with Dogs: Yes, she loves playing with similar size dogs Ok with Cats:  Unknown Ok with Kids: Unknown, dog savvy kids 8 years and older should be fine Origin: Puppy Mill Release Requirements: Securely fenced yard, companion dog in home, minimal alone time, experienced owner- mill experience an asset   And now, a few words from me: I spent the first five years of my life in a mass breeding facility, where I was used and abused, and never got to be myself or enjoy life. Now I see that there are so many things to discover in this new world. There are things to sniff, things to lick, things to chew, and things to play with. It turns out that I really LOVE toys. I am also a big fan of zooming around the backyard and eating really good meals. Sometimes new things can feel a little scary, but exploring and learning can be really fun too. More than anything, I dream of having a forever family of my very own and a place where I can keep learning, playing, and just be the happy, goofy dog that I’m meant to be. If you’ve got a little patience, a lot of love, and maybe a toy or two, then I think we could be something pretty special together.   And now, a few words from my foster mom: Despite all of the hardships that April has endured in her early life, her gentle spirit shines through. She is incredibly smart, observant, and quietly brave. She is constantly watching and learning, and is already starting to respond to her name. She loves simple pleasures that she was previously denied, such as running freely in the yard, playing with squeaky toys, socializing with our dogs, and even curling up to watch TV (very attentively I might add). People still make her nervous, but there is something beautiful about the way she leans in with curiosity, wanting to trust. Her love of food and eagerness to learn have already helped her take small, but meaningful, steps forward. All she needs is someone with the love and patience to reassure her and show her that she is safe. April would greatly benefit from a confident canine companion to guide her as she continues to come out of her shell. In the right home, she will eventually blossom into the happy, loyal companion that she was always meant to be. After everything she’s been through, April deserves to be in a safe home with a family that truly loves her for the rest of her life. Questions?
