Patty is a 65lb German Shepherd mix with a wise soul and a heart full of love. This kind dog was found as a stray and after experiencing stress in the shelter, is now feeling better and more calm in foster care. Patty is sweet, affectionate and very people oriented. She happily approaches strangers of all ages in hopes of some love and she handled her vet visit like a pro. While Patty’s past remains a mystery, she is proving to be a wonderful companion. She is housetrained, rides well in the car, and can be left alone without issue. She did bark a little bit the first time she was left alone, but once she realized her human would come back she is fine now. She knows basic cues like sit and come and walks well on a leash. She might pull a little when she spots other dogs but her intentions are friendly and she greets politely. Continued positive reinforcement training to help her learn not to pull would benefit Patty, but she’s a quick study and sure to excel. Due to a strong prey drive with squirrels, Patty would most likely not get along in a house with cats; they might be a little too tempting to chase. One more of her charming quirks is that Patty prefers not to dine alone - she enjoys having her person nearby when she eats. If her person leaves, she leaves too. For Patty, mealtime is better when shared with loved ones! In the home Patty is the perfect houseguest. She is calm, non destructive, and settles in easily. She’s shown some interest in playing fetch in the backyard but it's a work in progress and the “bring it back part” still has some work to do. More than anything, Patty enjoys being close to her people. She will happily nap at your feet and follow you from room to room just to be close. Medically, she is up to date on all her vetting and was treated for a urinary tract infection which has resolved. While she was initially on medication to help with stress in the shelter, since coming into foster care, medication has been reduced as she has learned how to relax a little more. This sweet, gentle girl is ready to spend her golden years in comfort and love. All she wants is a cozy home, a soft bed and a family to call her own. In return she will give you (and all your houseguests) endless affection and companionship. April 2, 2026, 2:13 pm
