My story

5–8 months old and just 8 pounds, Pepper is a sweet little girl who has been patiently waiting for her forever home. Her mom is 16 pounds however Pepper may stay on the smaller side. Pepper came to us very shy, but she has truly blossomed in her foster home over the past couple of weeks. Now, she plays with the best of them and shows off her curious, social, and loving personality. She’s great with cats, dogs, and kids, and has become especially attached to her foster parents. She has full puppy energy and loves to play with anyone—human or animal—who will join in. If no one is available, she happily entertains herself with toys or zoomies around the house. With her excitement, she can be a bit nippy during play and is still learning gentle manners, but once she settles, she’s all about snuggles and naps with her people or furry friends. Pepper is very smart and is already doing well with her potty training—she’ll use a pee pad or head to the back door and pace when she needs to go out. She’s curious and adventurous, quickly learning to climb stairs and hop onto furniture. She’s still building confidence on leash and can be nervous around strangers on walks, often stopping to watch until they pass. At home, she’s comfortable and thriving. Pepper does well in her crate for short periods and sleeps there at night, though she’s an early riser (around 5:30–5:45am) and will let you know when she’s ready to start her day. She isn’t overly barky, but she does have a loud bark when excited—like when people arrive or when she wants out of her crate. Otherwise, she tends to whine for attention. Pepper will keep you smiling with her silly antics—carrying oversized stuffies, rolling around on the rug, zooming through the house or yard, and trying to recruit everyone (including the cat!) into playtime. Because of her energy, jumping, and puppy nipping, she may be a bit much for very young children. Pepper is funny, playful, snuggly, and incredibly smart. She will make a wonderful companion for the right home 💕

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pepper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
